I've always thought berserkers didn't really fit Middle Earth a ton, but weren't exactly standing out all that much, since Tolkien was inspired by norse mythology in a bunch of places. The trolls usually head towards the enemy when the battle starts I keep them alive by moving my cavalry to one side of the enemy and charging their archers when my trolls come under fire. The berserks in VC are very (unsurprisingly) norse flavoured. You can get more than one troll, but keep them alive: you can't talk to them to see how many more experience points you need before they level up to be trained trolls.
